About BlackWater Structures
Eric White already owned a successful antique mall in Oklahoma when he decided to build something for himself. He wanted a 50 by 60 pole barn with vaulted ceilings, a 14-foot garage door, and a concrete floor and driveway. Simple enough, right? Not so much. He needed the building set back over 100 feet from the road, which meant distance, logistics, and precision.
Eric sent out nine quote requests to every major pole barn builder in the Tulsa area. Four told him it was impossible to fit a 14-foot door into 10-foot sidewalls. Two never called back at all. The three who did respond all came back with quotes within a thousand dollars of each other, and all three were shocking. Eric did the math and realized these companies were looking to make over $20,000 in pure profit on this single job. He knew something had to give.
Instead of writing the check, Eric reached out to people he knew. He asked around about who he could trust to help him build it right. What came together was a crew focused on doing quality work at a fair price, not getting rich off his dream. That building got built. And then people started calling.
'Everyone needs to make a profit, but they don't need to get rich off of you.'
— Eric White, Founder
We only use the highest quality material on the market today. This isn't because we're perfectionist snobs—it's because cheap materials fail, and failure costs you money, frustration, and time. We've learned that a building needs to perform for decades, not just look good on delivery day. Better materials cost more upfront, but they cost less over a building's lifetime. That math matters to us because it matters to you.
We stay locally owned because we know this region, these people, and what these buildings face. We understand the weather, the soil conditions, and what lasts through an Oklahoma winter. That knowledge comes from showing up in the same place for years, not flying in and flying out. When something needs fixing, we're still here. When you have a question three years later, you can call the same person who built it.
We grew by word of mouth because we didn't have a marketing budget—we just built things right and let people talk. That meant every crew member understood that their name was on every building. Shortcuts didn't happen because we weren't trying to scale fast. We wanted to scale smart, with people who took pride in the work.
Working with BlackWater Structures means dealing with people who have their own skin in the game. We're not here to hit a quota or move to the next job. We're here because this is what we do, and we do it well. You'll get honest feedback about what makes sense for your project and what doesn't. You'll see quality material arrive on site. You'll notice the details—the cuts, the fit, the finish.
If you're ready to talk about what you're building, reach out. We'd like to hear about it.
